About

The GLobal Information and Technology Controls Hub (GLITCH) Research Interest Group was founded at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford in 2022. The group aims to bring together academics, organisations and other stakeholders researching internet shutdowns, internet censorship or information controls.

Our goal is to provide a platform for interdisciplinary discussions and to increase international collaboration between sectors. Given the many overlapping aspects of intentional and unintentional internet outages, disruptions or interferences, we welcome a wide range of researchers and organisations focussing on internet access topics. As the group is intended to be highly interdisciplinary, we engage with qualitative, quantitative and computational research.
